FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - Are you stuck at home with nothing to do? Why not do a fun arts and crafts project, like making masks for city workers in Fort Worth?

The Fort Worth Public Library is launching a donation drive for homemade masks today.

Masks are being collected at three locations: the Central Library, the Southwest Regional Library and the Northwest Branch Library.

"All they have to do is drop it in the book drop just like they normally would, and we'll take it from there," says Manya Shorr, Fort Worth Public Library director.

The goal is 15,000 homemade masks, and there is currently no end date for the donation drive.

"They will be going to a variety of different city employees who are keeping our city rolling," says Shorr.

Those employees include those who work in public works, the water department, the animal shelter and community centers.

"Citizens are coming up to them," Shorr says, "and they need that mask to keep themselves and the citizen protected."

The public library has a list of specifications for homemade masks on its website.

And if you need to learn how to make a mask, the library has you covered there too.

"We have a video tutorial from one of our staff members on how to create one yourself," says Shorr. "And for those people who don't know how to sew, there's a mask you can make as well."
