The storm itself had changed little since being upgraded Thursday morning.  The center of Barry was located about 90 miles south of the mouth of the Mississippi River.  Maximum sustained winds remained at 40 mph, and the storm was moving to the west at 5 mph.

#Barry is expected to produce total rain accumulations of 10-20 inches over SE Louisiana and SW Mississippi, with isolated maximum amounts of 25 inches through the weekend. These rains are likely to cause flash flooding in those areas. More: https://t.co/tW4KeFW0gB @NWSWPC pic.twitter.com/9dFItFsx8r

The latest forecast track would bring Barry ashore west of New Orleans sometime on Saturday.  Forecasters say the storm could briefly reach hurricane status before making landfall this weekend.  Based on the current track, Barry would have minimal or no impact on Texas.
