HURST (1080 KRLD) - The Hurst City Council could decide the future of a troubled apartment complex tonight.
There will be a public hearing during tonight's Hurst City Council meeting to discuss the fate of the Dakota Place Apartments on Hurst Boulevard.
The apartment complex has more than 700 code violations, including leaky roofs; and as of last month, owner Charles Mercer had not completed the repairs the city had ordered him to make.
In fact, Mercer didn't even show up at last month's public hearing, in which the council levied him a fine of $1,000 a day for repairs that are not done.
Tonight, if it's dissatisfied with the progress of repairs, the City Council could move to revoke Dakota Place's certificate of occupancy, displacing around 100 residents.
