Police: Man Charged With Texas A&M Commerce Murders

DALLAS (KRLD) - A man has been arrested and charged with capital murder for Monday’s shooting deaths of sisters Deja Matts, 19, and Abbaney Matts, 20, on the campus of Texas A&M Commerce.  

Abbaney’s 2-year-old son was shot in the leg, treated and released to family. 

21-year-old Jacques Dshawn Smith, is believed to be Abbaney Matts’ ex-boyfriend.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant through the use of surveillance and witness tips.

Smith is not a student at A&M-Commerce.
