DALLAS (KRLD) - The manhunt continues for the last of the three men wanted for the murder of Joshua Brown, who was shot to death at an apartment complex on Cedar Springs Friday.

Brown had been a witness in the murder trial of former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger.

Authorities in Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana say Michael Mitchell, 32, was found in the town of Martel in the central part of the state. He was one of three men wanted for Brown's death. Dallas Police say the shooting was part of a drug deal that went bad. Assistant Police Chief Avery Moore said the crime was not related to Brown's testimony at the Guyger trial.

A task force broke down a door at a motel and arrested Mitchell without a fight, finding nearly half-a-pound of marijuana and a pistol.

"We charged him with, naturally, the murder charge out of Texas," said Avoyuelles Parish Sheriff Doug Anderson. Additionally police charged Mitchell with weapons and drug possession charges. Anderson says Mitchell will be extradited back to Dallas to face a capital murder case.

Police say Mitchell, his nephew Jacquerious Mitchell, 20, and their friend Thaddius Green, 22, had traveled from Cheneyville Louisiana to Dallas to buy marijuana from Brown. The fatal deal went down Friday night.

"Jacquarious Mitchell gets out of the vehicle and he states that Joshua Brown orders him back into the vehicle and shoots him in the chest," said Moore. "As he's laying in the vehicle, he hears two more gunshots. He says that Thaddius Green shot Joshua Brown."

The younger Mitchell is still hospitalized but will be put in the Dallas County jail on a capital murder charge when he is released. Police are still searching for Green.

Police say the drug deal had nothing to do with Brown's reluctant testimony during the Guyger trial. Brown said he heard Guyger shoot his neighbor, Botham Jean, then make a call to 911. Brown broke down in tears during his testimony and was clearly uncomfortable on the witness stand.

In November 2018, Brown was shot during a disput outside a Dallas club. He survived, but another man was killed. Court records show Brown had numerous encounters with law enforcement for drugs, weapons, and evading arrest.
