DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A Grand Prairie man has been captured in a wooded area near Jacksonville, south of Tyler.
Authorities say he shot a deputy in Henderson County.
Deputies with the Henderson County Sheriff's Office say a deputy tried to pull 39-year-old Jeremy Cook over on his motorcycle at about 3 a.m. Wednesday, because he had no license plate. He didn't stop. That set off a high-speed chase that ended in the Berryville area, about 100 miles southeast of Dallas.
When the motorcycle eventually wrecked out, authorities say Cook shot the deputy. He was wearing a bulletproof vest but still suffered some injuries, the sheriff said.
A blue alert was sent out and authorities soon learned of a stolen car report in the area. They found the car and Cook in it. He took off on foot and was eventually apprehended by the K-9 unit in a wooded area.
Cook is now in the Henderson County facing attempting capital murder charges.
The deputy shot was treated and released.
