We had a lot of plans before the crush of COVID-19 gripped America.
From weddings to vacations to graduation parties, they've all been called off because of restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic.
And for many who had big plans, it's been another significant expense they did not expect.
A new Bankrate.com survey says 59 million people in the U.S. have lost money over canceled plans. The report says only 30% of those will get a full refund. And, it examines how willing Americans are to make future plans amid the uncertainty of COVID-19.
“My best advice for a refund is to start by contacting the company that you purchased from – whether that was an airline, a travel agency, a ticket marketplace, etc.,” says Ted Rossman, industry analyst at Bankrate. “Start wherever you made the reservation or bought the tickets. Most of these companies are being very generous with their refund policies.”
Rossman talked about the survey with KRLD's Chris Sommer.
