DALLAS (1080 KRLD) -  North Texas food banks are getting a shot in the arm from FEMA.

Many food pantries say demand for their services has doubled or even tripled during the current shelter-in-place orders.

Shelves have been getting bare.

Now, FEMA says a request has been granted, meaning 22,000 tons of food will be transported to food banks across the state.
