Home sales across North Texas totaled 12,933 in July.
Since 1990, that's the only time the monthly figure has ever topped 12,000 according to the Texas A&M Real Estate Center.
The dollar value of those sales was over $4.7 billion - the first time that monthly figure has ever been above $4 billion.
With the huge demand for homes in North Texas, builders are facing problems of high prices for materials like lumber and concrete, and a shortage of labor.
