Officials say they'll seek the death penalty for the alleged El Paso shooter.

The alleged suspect in custody has been identified as 21-year-old Patrick Crusius of Allen. He's accused of shooting up a Wal-Mart in that West Texas town, killing some 20 people.

Former Fort Worth Police Chief Jeff Halstead tells the KRLD Sunday Morning News that the investigation involves law enforcement from the local level, all the way up to the FBI.

Police and the FBI spent about three hours Sunday morning at Crusius' home in Allen, blocking off the road in front of the house.

Crusius' family is not talking to the media, and KRLD's L.P. Phillips reports that they are threatening to call police back if anyone knocks on their door.

A manifesto has surfaced on the imageboard 8-Chan, purportedly written by the shooter. It decries the increasing Hispanic population in Texas, and calls for the different races in America to be separated into ethno-states.

Halstead says the investigation and criminal trial process could stretch out for two years or more, and multiple civil lawsuits are expected to proceed for years after that.
