DALLAS (KRLD) - The Perot Museum in Dallas has announced the popular traveling exhibition "The Art of the Brick" has been extended through Sept. 2.

Every piece in "The Art of the Brick" was created by Nathan Sawaya, who used millions of LEGO bricks to build everything from history's most famous works of art to the 20-foot skeleton of a T.rex dinosaur.

The Perot Museum's Krista Villarreal Moore said, "In the six years we've been open, it's been one of our most-popular exhibitions.  It has exceeded all of our expectations."

The LEGO T.rex is one of the biggest crowd-pleasers in "The Art of the Brick."  Villarreal Moore said, "It's made of 80,000 LEGO bricks.  And it's in its own little room, so as people come around the corner, you kind of hear the gasps as people see it.  It's a very popular selfie spot."

The exhibition also includes Sawaya's renditions of classic artworks, including Van Gogh's "Starry Night," da Vinci's "Mona Lisa" and Michelangelo's "David."  Another popular piece is "Yellow," a life-size sculpture of a man ripping his chest open, with thousands of yellow LEGO bricks pouring from the cavity.

After touring the exhibit, Perot Museum guests can also enjoy the interactive "The Science of the Brick," which allows them to try their hand at LEGO building.

"The Art of the Brick" is held over through Labor Day.  The exhibition does require a surcharge for museum visitors.
