The Richardson ISD will let some teachers take the year off if they have concerns about COVID-19.
The school board for the Richardson ISD has approved an option for teachers or other school employees to take a one-year, un-paid furlough if they're worried about the prospect of contracting COVDI-19 while on campus.
The district will hold a position for those employees to return to paid work next year, but they won't be guaranteed the same school or assignment.
A survey of teachers found that about 38% were very concerned about face-to-face instruction.
