DALLAS (KRLD) - A shooting in Greenville during a homecoming party for A&M Commerce Saturday night leaves two people dead, and 12 others shot. Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks says as many as five of the victims injured are A&M Commerce students.

Deputies were called out to the 'Party Venue' along Highway 380 because of cars parked along the shoulder.  A short time later deputies said shots had been fired from inside the venue, and later determined a handgun was used in the shooting.

— Greg Abbott (@GregAbbott_TX) October 27, 2019 Sheriff Meeks 'When the shots were fired it was complete chaos as people fled for safety". Sheriff Meeks says in all the chaos the suspect got away.

They do not have a good description of the suspect.

Sheriff Meeks says "It appalls me as many people as were there, they were not able to give us a better description of the shooter."

Investigators have questioned 20 witnesses so far.

Sheriff Meeks says the shooter came in the back door of the venue, and investigators believe his first victim may have been his target, and the other victims were chosen randomly.

The Sheriff does say there was one shooter and they are looking for a male.   The FBI and the Texas Rangers are assisting in the investigation.
