A strong area of high pressure will remain in control of the upper levels of the atmosphere through this week and into next weekend, bringing another prolonged stretch of dangerous heat to North Texas. Heat Advisories are in effect today and tomorrow, and there's a good chance they'll be extended through the end of the week. I'm hoping we can avoid Excessive Heat Warnings, but that's certainly a possibility by Thursday, Friday, and perhaps even Saturday.
We actually underachieved a bit over the weekend, with highs of 98° on Saturday and 99° at DFW Airport on Sunday. Unfortunately, every day this week is expected to reach the triple digits as the upper-level ridge slowly shifts south and intensifies the heat across the region.
Rain chances remain very slim over the next seven days. A weak front may try to edge into North Texas this weekend, bringing a slight chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm, but most areas will stay dry.
