3 People Shot At Texas A&M Commerce Residence Hall, 2 Dead

COMMERCE (1080 KRLD) - A shelter in place order has been lifted the Texas A&M Commerce campus where the school says three people were shot at a residence hall on Monday.

According to the school, the shooting happened at the Pride Rock residence hall, two women were killed. A third victim, a small child, has been taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. 

Pride Rock is a three-story suite-style coed residence hall for freshmen.

With campus safety a top priority, the university has canceled all classes, events, and programs both on campus and in remote locations through Wednesday, February 5th. 

University police have stationed officers throughout the campus, including all key gathering points, for the safety of the campus community.

There is no word yet on the victims' names or a motive for the shooting.

Counselors have been made available for students and faculty in the Rayburn Student Center conference rooms.

Commerce is about 60 miles northeast of Dallas-Fort Worth.
