He says they've been working with their partners at local juvenile departments in counties across the state and have seen some of those staffers get the virus. "We decided it was better right now, as we're entering a critical period in Texas' response to go ahead and make this change to protect our youth and our staff."He adds they want them to stick to their normal schedules as much as possible. "The main thing that we have done is to implement new procedures to make sure youth are not working in groups larger than ten, so they're staying with the same kids during the day. We're not mixing groups or introducing groups just to prevent any possible spread."There have been no cases among their 770 young offenders across the state's five facilities. One staffer who worked in the IT department at the Giddings facility did test positive but had no interaction with the youth.
