The Montgomery County judge says Governor Abbott's "soft" reopening Friday isn't clear.
Mark Keough claims Governor Greg Abbott has simply advised, but not ordered certain businesses to remain closed. "Because of the vagueness of their order, we're not going to keep, whether it's hair salons or any of these things, we're not going to keep them closed. Because you know what? That's not what the order says."Tela Mange with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation says there's nothing vague about it. "We feel like the governor's executive order is pretty clear, that people should not be going to hair salons, barber shops, massage establishments or having laser hair removal done."
She adds those businesses will remain closed for now. "Our licensees follow very strict sanitation and hygiene orders and rules, but they don't have arms that are six feet long. So it would be very hard for them to provide services while maintaining social distancing."Keough says he wants clarification. He says their hospitalization rate is stable and they've had a "minimal" amount of people passing. "Listen, we've got to get Montgomery County rolling again. We've got along with this as long as we can."Mange says Abbott's orders supersedes any local or county orders.
