AUSTIN (1080 KRLD) - The Texas Supreme Court is giving the go-ahead to debt collections and evictions as early as next week.
The court says eviction hearings can resume next Tuesday, the 19th with orders authorizing some evictions permitted one week later.
However, tenants who rent homes financed by federally-back mortgages are protected a little longer by CARES, the federal Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Act which creates an eviction moratorium through August 23rd.
Some communities, including Dallas, also have local protection orders that give renters and debtors additional protections.
