AUSTIN (1080 KRLD) - The Texas Attorney General's Office and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services are investigating after a jury in Dallas returned a verdict against a dad, who was petitioning for full custody of his seven-year-old son, in part to avoid the boy's gender transition.
Jeffrey Younger was trying to keep his ex-wife from giving the boy medication with puberty-blocking hormones.Texas Governor Greg Abbott waded into the controversy on Wednesday, saying the matter was being looked at by the two government agencies.
FYI the matter of 7 year old James Younger is being looked into by the Texas Attorney General's Office and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. #JamesYounger
— Greg Abbott (@GregAbbott_TX) October 23, 2019 Monday's verdict gave Anne Georgulas, a peditrician, sole custody of James and his twin brother, Jude.Jeffery Younger says Georgulas has been telling James he was a girl for several years and has backed the idea of chemically castrating him. Georgulas has asked the court to order the dad to attend counseling to affirm the boy's transgender ideology and mandate that the dad call James, "Luna." She has enrolled him in kindergarten as "Luna." He uses the girl's bathroom, and classmates believe him to be female.Senator Ted Cruz called the case "horrifying and tragic... and nothing less than child abuse."
A 7-year-old child doesn't have the maturity to make profound decisions like this. The state of Texas should protect this child's right to choose—as an informed, mature person—and not be used as a pawn in a left-wing political agenda. #ProtectJamesYounger
— Senator Ted Cruz (@SenTedCruz) October 24, 2019 There are no state laws currently preventing a legal guardian from giving a minor puberty blockers or hormones.
