
Nearly 100 Texas mayors are asking Congress for more relief funds to help with financing issues caused by the coronavirus.
The state comptroller says sales tax revenues in June dropped by 11% compared to the same time last year.
Texas has already received $11 billion from the CARES Act, but the Mayors say the money doesn't cover all of their losses.
Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams says without additional aid, they will be forced to cut workforce and reduce services, exacerbating the problem.
The request for direct aid is one Texas mayors have been raising since April.
Several Mayors are worried that due to an unstable economy, they could see a drop in property taxes next year.
