FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - The Tarrant County Medical Examiner has ruled an infant who was found unresponsive at a Fort Worth home daycare on March 19, 2019 died from natural causes.

Infant Hadley Fowler was found lethargic and unresponsive in a home daycare in the 4800 block of Booth Bay Way on Fort Worth's far northwest side. She died at a hospital a short while later.

According the the Medical Examiner's website, the cause of death was klebsiella oxytoca sepsis, a form of bacterial infection.

"Sepsis certainly is something you see as a pathologist. Sepsis with klebsiella oxytoca is not necessarily very common." said Dr. Amy Grusecki, a pathologist with the American Pathology Laboratory.

On its own, klebsiella oxytoca is found in the intestine and is considered healthy and normal. It's when it leaves the intestinal tract that a severe infection can develop.

On the day the baby died, three agencies began investigations. The Texas Department of Family Services has completed its case and forwarded its findings to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.

HHSC spokesman John Reynolds said their case is still ongoing.

Fort Worth Police announced an investigation the same day and has not announced a resolution to the case.
