POLK COUNTY, ARK. (1080 KRLD) - The frantic search for a Fort Worth hiker lost in Arkansas continues. On Saturday, Joshua McClatchy, 38, was hiking the Buckeye Mountain Trail, about 250 miles northeast of Dallas in Polk County, Ark."It's some of the toughest terrain in Arkansas," says Polk County Sheriff Scott Sawyer. "It's very steep. There are lost of rocks. Anything off the trail is very steep and overgrown with brush."At around 5:00 p.m. Saturday, McClatchy's mother reported him lost on the trail."He sent a message to his mother that he was about two miles from the trailhead," says Sheriff Sawyer. "He had gotten lost and was off the trail, but he knew he was close to the trail, according to his GPS, but he just couldn't find the trail again."The search has been on ever since."We got out pretty late Saturday night," Sawyer says. "Coming back out, we didn't locate anything. And we've had crews in there searching, airplanes in there, dogs in there, ever since."With sheriff's office resources exhausted, other agencies have joined in the search."I've got the U.S. Forest Service assisting us," says Sawyer. "I've got the Arkansas Game and Fish assisting us. I've got some local fire departments and Arkansas State Parks. They've all been sending me people."
