CARROLLTON (KRLD) - An 18-year-old woman says it's her baby that was found dead in a Carrollton cemetery flower pot.
Police say in March, a caretaker at Perry Cemetery noticed a flower pot that was out of place and moved it. When he dumped out its contents, the body of an infant girl, only 6 pounds with the umbilical cord still attached, spilled out.
Now Jolene DeVito with police says an 18-year-old woman has come forward claiming it's her child.
"It's still an on-going investigation. Still, a lot of questions we need answered. We are waiting on test results and a consultation with the Dallas County DAs office on where to go with this from here," DeVito says.
DeVito says the woman came forward after seeing and hearing the story on several media outlets.
At this point, no charges have been filed and the motive has not yet been given.
