DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Dexter the dog is slowly recovering after he was bitten multiple times by a snake.
The SPCA of Brazoria County says they found Dexter on Sunday morning.
Paige Morrison with the Brazoria County SPCA says, "An officer had seen the dog and noticed that it was in distress and had a very swolen face with multiple marks on it's face. We quickly evaluated that this dog had been bitten multiple times in the face by a snake. We started our snake bite medical protocol and have Dexter here at the shelter recovering. "
Morrison says it appears to have been a poisonous snake based on the swelling. She says, "Luckily, there were no bites to his neck area. The prognosis is very good and the swelling is starting to go down."
Morrison says she's amazed at how well he's doing. She says, "You never know how it's going to go with snake bites."
The SPCA of Brazoria County posted the story about Dexter on Facebook and people are donating money for his treatment.
Morrison says, "We don't know if Dexter has an owner. We're hoping to find his owner. He's just a very kind dog. He doesn't appear to be scared of people at all. He even appears to be potty trained."
