DENTON (1080 KRLD) - One of the biggest traffic improvement projects in Denton County enters a new phase this week.
The ever-evolving I-35E at South Loop 288 in Denton area gets a new traffic pattern this week. There's good news and bad.
Starting Tuesday night, the northbound lanes of I-35E will be diverted onto the brand new overpass. Then on Wednesday night, the southbound lanes will also get moved onto the overpass.
But TxDot says there's a catch.
For southbound traffic, the State School/Mayhill exit will be closed. So if you're trying to get to Buc-ee's or the Unicorn Lake area, you'll have to take the Loop 288 exit, and wait through the light, that's going to cause extra congestion for about a week.
The whole project is on track to be wrapped up early in the fall.
