
ATHENS (1080 KRLD) - In a statement to KRLD Radio, Union Pacific said their data shows the train was sounding its horn a full 30 seconds before the collison.
The railroad spokesperson said the crash was captured on camera, the footage has been turned over to police. There were two students on the bus.
13-year-old Christopher Bonilla, a student at Athens Middle School, died from his injuries after he was ejected from the bus. A 9-year-old girl, Joselyne Torres, was trapped inside the bus, but extricated by firefighters.
The Central Athens Elementary school student was taken by helicopter to Children's Medical, where she had surgery and was in stable condition. Police said the driver of the bus, 78-year-old John Stevens of Mabank, was treated for injuries before being released from the hospital.
