The bidding is hot and heavy for some of the memorabilia from the now-closed Highland Park Cafeteria in Dallas' Casa Linda neighborhood.
With the online auction set to close starting at 1 p.m. Wednesday, ATX Auctions Spokesman Chad Hodges said the sale now includes more than 1,600 lots. That includes equipment from the restaurant, furniture, trays and dinnerware that features the cafeteria's iconic logo.
Hodges said the restaurant's famous collection of portraits of all the U.S. presidents is one of the lots attracting the most attention. As of Monday morning, the top bid was over $5,000.
There is one important change associated with the Highland Park Cafeteria auction. Organizers had planned to sell individual trays and glasses onsite on Tuesday, June 9. Instead, those items have been added to the online auction, and will not be offered in-person. Hodges said a limited number of rare Highland Park Cafeteria coffee mugs are also featured in the sale.
