Lost in the excitement of the Cowboys' final drive that ended in a Brett Maher 50-yard game-winning field goal as time expired, was tight end Dalton Schultz going down with a knee injury.

Schultz grabbed his right knee after he was hit from behind by a Bengals defender on an incompletion. He walked to the sideline under his own power and was able to return to the game for one play before limping off the field for good.

The tight end underwent an MRI on Monday and the results showed that he suffered a PCL injury. The good news, however, is that the injury won't cost him "significant time," Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News reported Monday.

As for his status for next Monday night's game against the New York Giants, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said during his press conference Monday afternoon at The Star that the team feels "better about the scan" on Schultz's knee, but won't know his availability until later in the week.

2022 fourth-round pick Jake Ferguson and undrafted rookie Peyton Hendershot are the next men up at the position on the Cowboys' active roster.
