The field is now set for the KPMG Women's PGA Championship. The competition will take place June 19 through 22 at Fields East Ranch, near PGA of America Headquarters in Frisco.
All top 100 players in the Race to CME Globe Rankins will participate including Amy Yang, who won the 2024 KPMG Women's PGA Championship. She played Fields East Ranch for the first time earlier this month.
"I had so much fun this morning," she said after playing. "The course is playing tough but still fair."
This will be the first time the KPMG Women's PGA Championship will be played in Texas, and the event next weekend will be the second major event at PGA Frisco. Yang says playing different venues can help grow the sport.
"I think it's very important. I think it attracts more fans, and I think they love to see how professionals play those courses," she says.
Don Rea, the president of PGA of America, says business leaders from across the area welcomed the organization upon its arrival in 2022.
"I feel like Jerry Jones had a crockpot full of stew and was bringing it over and saying, 'Welcome to the neighborhood,'" he says. "I feel like there pies coming in."
The KPMG Women's PGA Championship says cooling zones will spread across the course for fans, and people will be able to cool off in the gift shops or restaurants.
"It is June in Texas, and we know it may be a little warm outside, so we're taking several steps to make it as gracious an experience as possible," says Championship Director Jason Mengel. "Every ticket will have access to complimentary bottled water stations scattered throughout the property."
Rea says tickets are still available, but sky boxes have sold out. He says more than a thousand people have also signed up to volunteer.
"I don't think we could have pulled this off anyplace else," he says. "There's nothing like Frisco. They make you feel at home, and we've felt at home the last three years."
