Popular E-sport now nation's third most watched sporting event

The COVID-19 pandemic has not slowed the explosive growth of E-Sports in the U.S.

Actually, the billion-dollar industry has only continued to gain momentum in the last year.

Naz Aletaha, Head of Global E-Sports Partnerships and Business Development at Riot Games, said its League of Legends Championship Series is now the third most-watched sport in the nation, trailing only the NFL and NBA.

In 2020, more than 1.2 billion hours of E-Sports was consumed, and that number is expected to double by 2023.

With a world-class E-Sports facility, Arlington is among the industry's hubs.  Aletaha talked about the phenomenon with KRLD's Chris Sommer
