One student shot at Dallas ISD Thomas Jefferson High School

“We’re here today to begin the healing process” said Dallas ISD Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde a day after a student was shot outside Thomas Jefferson High School in northwest Dallas.

Classes are canceled at TJ High School and Walnut Hill International Leadership Academy on Wednesday as police and Dallas ISD officials investigate a shooting that took place Tuesday afternoon.

Classes at both schools will resume Thursday with an increased police presence at both campuses for the rest of the week.

Counseling services will be available at Jefferson today beginning at 10 a.m. Also, meals will be available at both campuses Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Dallas Police confirmed one person identified as a student was injured following a shooting at Thomas Jefferson High School just after the students were released for the day at 4:30 p.m.

Police confirmed to they responded to a report of a shooting at the campus, along the 4000 block of Walnut Hill Lane.

A spokesman for Dallas Fire-Rescue confirmed one person was transported to a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound.

Dallas Police officials report that the suspected shooter was also a student.

This shooting comes just one day after one teen was killed and another injured in a shooting outside Lamar High School in Arlington.
