A wild road rage incident in Rockwall County could have ended up much worse than it did.
People in two vehicles - a Dodge Challenger and a Kia SUV - were shooting at one another as they were going on westbound I-30 in Royse City.

"One of them got in front of the other when they brake checked them - he basically slammed on the brakes in front of them," Kirk Aldridge, Royce City police chief said, "which caused the driver in the back to go around and do the same to the other driver."
Aldridge says the situation escalated from there.
"The passenger was shooting back at the driver of another vehicle," Aldridge said, "and that driver was shooting back at them."
Fortunately, no one was injured by the gunfire.
"There was actually a couple of cars that were driving by that were hit. But luckily they didn't hit the driver, they hit the vehicle."
The rolling gun battle ended when the two vehicles crashed on Ridge Rd. under the I-30 bridge.
All three people got out of their respective vehicles, but all were caught and are now facing charges.
"The driver of one of the cars (Kordell Tezeno) was arrested for deadly conduct," Aldridge said, "because while he was firing back at the person who started shooting at him, he actually hit other vehicles.
"The backseat passenger of the other vehicle (Kia SUV) that started in the gunfire (Tommy Alvarado), he was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon."
The driver of the Kia, David Bullard, is charged with accident involving a vehicle for his actions of fleeing from the scene.
Aldridge says road rage remains a major issue throughout North Texas.
"We've just recently started partnering with all of the agencies along Interstate 30 in an aggressive driver campaign," Aldridge said. "And last week, we actually had a surge where we had officers from all the different agencies actually out on the Interstate as an added presence, and then also stopping people who we were observing driving aggressively."
