Former Fort Worth police officer Aaron Dean is asking a Tarrant County Judge to overturn his conviction of manslaughter in the death of Atatiana Jefferson.

In August, Dean's attorneys filed a motion claiming that Judge George Gallagher made several key mistakes during his trial last year, including denying a change of venue motion and saying that there wasn't enough evidence to allow jurors to consider a charge of manslaughter, which dean was ultimately convicted of.

Back in October 2019, Dean shot and killed Atatiana Jefferson through a window at her home after a neighbor called the non-emergency line.

Police body camera footage showed Dean never identified himself as an officer and shot within moments of seeing a shadow in a window.

Dean was sentenced to a little more than 11 years in prison, which he is currently serving near Houston.
