The pandemic brought shortages. There were toilet paper shortages, then microchip and microprocessor shortages, then lumber and now, air conditioning parts shortages.
Cory Huffman is the owner of Cold Factor Heating and Air in North Texas and says they are experiencing shortages of copper, steel, aluminum, coils and ductwork. He says units may be hard to find by the middle of July "Multiple suppliers on multiple sides are saying we've got orders in, but the manufacturers are saying to us I don't know what quantity I can give you until six to eight weeks from now."
He says motors, relay and capacitors are currently in stock, but there could be a shortage in the future.
He says if you have the budget and need something repaired or replaced, now is the time to take care of it. "Number one, just so you can get it, but also we're going to see another price hike in July and potentially in August."
He calls the situation "unprecedented." He says he's making a big purchase of parts and units now just in case they are not available later in the summer.
