In partnership with the SPCA of Texas, Newsradio 1080 KRLD brings you 'Adoptable Pet Pals,' a weekly feature to introduce you to animals that are ready for adoption.

KRLD's Kristin Diaz along with Maura Davies from the SPCA highlight the critical need for adopting families at local animal shelters by showcasing an "Adoptable Pet Pal" that has stayed at the shelter too long.

Meet our featured pet Eevee!

Eevee’s sweet, friendly, and loving personality 100% fits her Pokemon namesake! This gorgeous Coonhound mix is five years old, and she weighs 73 pounds. If you’re looking for a new best friend who is pure love, look no further than Eevee. Gentle and easygoing, she’d do well in a home with other dogs or even human kiddos. And she already knows to sit and shake! She is heartworm positive, but her treatment is free to her new family. Please bring your canine friends or children up for a meet and greet, so you know it’ll be a match made in heaven. She is at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center, so no appointment is necessary to meet her. Just come on by 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas any day of the week between noon and 6 p.m.

Meet Milo! UPDATE: Milo has been adopted!

Meet Milo

Meet Milo! He is a Terrier, American Pit Bull mix waiting for his forever home with the SPCA of Texas. Milo is just over 4 years of age, just over 60 pounds and is covered in a soft grey coat that is just fabulous. He’s got a twinkle in his eye and a sly grin that lets you know this guy is looking for some fun times ahead. Milo wants to be the star of the show, so it is best if he goes to a home where he is the only dog. He seems to do well with kids, so bring everyone down to the shelter to meet Milo before an adoption takes place. Milo is currently being housed at the SPCA of Texas Ellis County Animal Care Center in Waxahachie, so a prior appointment is necessary to meet him. Make the appointment and Milo will make time for you.

Meet Roscoe

Meet Roscoe! He a Labrador Retriever mix and an older gentleman at 11 years of age. Roscoe is 60 pounds and covered in black fur with some grey highlights. In his previous life, Roscoe was kept outside all the time and learned to be somewhat of an escape artist. He wants to spend the rest of his life with a loving family who will let him be an indoor dog. Roscoe does fine with other dogs and is good with children too. He’s still got a bot of energy in him, but is done with his silly puppy ways, though he may throw some goofiness in for the right treats. Roscoe is currently in foster care, so an advanced appointment is necessary to meet with him.

Meet Lt. Dan

Meet Lt. Dan! He is a very happy and energetic little pup who is just over a year old now. He is a Labrador Retriever mix and has been with the SPCA of Texas since he was a puppy. He weighs 43 pounds and is covered in black fur with a little white underneath. Lt. Dan is celebrating this week because he was just outfitted with his brand-new wheelchair! He had the misfortune of being born with deformed front legs. For his first year, he managed without them completely and was even adept at rising up on his back legs. Now with his wheelchair exploring will become even easier for him. Lt. Dan is at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center, so no appointment is necessary to meet him.

Meet Joyce

Meet Joyce! She is a Domestic Shorthair mix who weighs 7 pounds and is covered in black and grey fur. Joyce is an older lady at 6-and-a-half years old and is far too refined for silly kitten antics. She can be quite friendly and affectionate, but that only comes after she gets to know someone well. She is a bit on the shy side at first meetings. Joyce is really hoping to go to a home where there is already a friendly cat ready to show her the ropes. She prefers adult company as children tend to frighten her a bit. She would prefer a calm and serene environment, especially during her transition period. Joyce is currently waiting at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center, so no appointment is necessary to meet her.

KRLD values the connection between animals and people. Through the incredible selflessness of animal advocates who rescue, rehabilitate, foster and adopt animals, we hope to be partners in finding safe and forever homes for these animals in need.

Regular adoption fees are $150 for puppies and kittens aged 0-6 months and $75 for adult dogs and cats aged 6 months or older. Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of PetHealth Insurance provided by PetHealth, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag and a free leash.
