There is something in the air in North Texas, and it's not love.

Air quality in Dallas and Tarrant Counties no longer meets state standards, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality reports. Out of 12 counties flagged statewide, Dallas and Tarrant lack clear external causes.

The two local counties are among 12 statewide flagged for poor air quality. Unlike eight other counties where wildfires, dust storms, or out-of-state emissions explain the poor readings, the poor quality in Dallas and Tarrant are leaving officials a little perplexed.

Since the EPA updated its standards last year after ten years, local officials are now pushing for solutions to clean up the air.
