Students in Allen are starting to see new posters on their classroom walls — the Ten Commandments.

The district began rolling them out this week after a new state law required all Texas schools to display the biblical text. Supporters of the law argue the posters reflect America’s religious heritage and provide a moral foundation for students. Critics, however, warn the requirement could spark legal battles over the separation of church and state.

Allen ISD officials say they’re following the law as written and will work to ensure compliance across campuses. Attorneys representing advocacy groups have already signaled potential lawsuits.

The posters are expected to appear in classrooms across the state throughout the school year.
