Newly signed Dallas Cowboys defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is facing legal issues in his hometown even as he prepares for his debut with his new team.

Clowney was arrested last Friday in Rock Hill, South Carolina, on misdemeanor charges of trespassing and failure to identify, WSOC reported. Police said he attempted to park his vehicle in a closed lot and was taken into custody after being told he could not do so.

The 31-year-old practiced with Dallas this week following his signing and could appear in Sunday’s game.

Clowney, the top overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft out of South Carolina, has built a career as a disruptive defensive presence. He spent his first five seasons with the Houston Texans, earning three Pro Bowl selections, before playing for Seattle, Tennessee, Cleveland and Baltimore.

Last season with the Ravens, Clowney posted 9.5 sacks, his highest total since 2018, and played a key role in helping Baltimore reach the AFC championship game. The Cowboys added him to bolster a defense already headlined by Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence.
