An Amber Alert issued for two sisters from McKinney was discontinued Sunday after the girls were located safe, police say.

Jennifer Burns, 6, and her sister Jessica Burns, 9, had last been seen about 6 p.m. Thursday at an address along Highway 75 near Virginia Parkway in east McKinney.

The Amber Alert was issued just before 1 a.m. Friday.

The girls were found safe Sunday afternoon and their grandmother, 60-year-old Jame Burns, was arrested in Richardson. She faces two charges of kidnapping.

The girls' father, Justin Burns, was arrested on two felony charges of kidnapping, but police said he's not the one who took the girls.

McKinney police said the girls were having a supervised visit at a restaurant with CPS and their father when they were taken. The CPS worker called 911.

Burns was suspected of taking the girls and has a criminal history. She was scheduled to be in court Friday morning to plead guilty to two charges, including one of child endangerment. She was believed to be driving a black 2009 Ford Escape TX with Texas license plate MTC6093. Authorities said it has a white scratch on the front.
