An appeals court today rejected claims by a convicted killer from Irving that his attorney did a poor job defending him.
It took less than an hour for a Dallas County jury to convict Christopher Rubin during his murder trial, and it took fewer than 50-pages for the 5th Circuit US Court of Appeals to uphold that conviction.
Rubin was convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend who was the mother of their two children, and her then new boyfriend in a fit of rage.
Court records show that in 2016, Rubin had broken up with the victim, Elizabeth Adams, and had been living with a new girlfriend. But since they shared children, Rubin forced Adams to live in the same apartment as him.
One day Adams had enough and moved out. That was more than Rubin could stand. Reports show he got a shotgun and hunted both Adams and the new boyfriend down, and killed both.
Rubin appealed on grounds that his lawyer did a bad job of defending him.
But in its opinion, the appeals court said the lawyer did a good job considering he had little to work with and the capital murder conviction and the life prison term have been upheld.
