Another North Texas pastor has resigned, this time from Cross Timbers Church in Argyle, less than a month after the church's lead pastor stepped down.
Executive Pastor Byron Copeland will step down, according to church elders, citing a divine call to embark on a new chapter in his life. The church expressed gratitude for Copeland's service and his decision to focus on family.
Copeland's departure follows the resignation of Pastor Josiah Anthony in late July due to "inappropriate actions." Initially, the church stated that Anthony's misconduct involved inappropriate communication with a former staff member, but that it did not include sexual interactions.
However, subsequent revelations from multiple women disclosed that Anthony had sent sexually charged comments via text and social media.
In the wake of these changes, church founder Toby Slough has assumed the role of interim lead pastor.
The resignations are just the latest in a string of high-profile pastors who have stepped down, including at Gateway Church in Southlake and Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas.
