The Arlington General Motors plant is off the hook Friday as the United Auto Workers union called a strike. The Arlington factory is not on the list of plants targeted for picketing.
Thursday night, the UAW announced three truck or SUV factories where picketers were assigned -- one each in Ohio, Missouri, and Michigan.
However, observers said if the strike drags out, more factories could be targeted, and many expect the Arlington assembly line could be one of them because it makes GM's most profitable vehicles -- full-size SUVs like Chevy Tahoes and Suburbans, GMC Yukons and Cadillac Escalades.
Many of the Arlington workers have vivid memories of the 2019 strike that lasted nearly six weeks. But even so, they seem united in saying, while no one wants to strike, they'll do what it takes to get a deal they can live with.
