There are concerns among Arlington ISD taxpayers after the school board passed resolutions opposing a new budget proposal by the Tarrant County Appraisal District.
The proposed budget could result in higher payments from Tarrant County taxpayers to the state while reducing local funding for schools. This issue stems from Texas' recapture law, known as Robin Hood, which mandates that wealthier districts return some of their revenue to the state for redistribution to less affluent districts.
Arlington ISD is aligning with other Tarrant County districts in opposing the budget plan. Proponents of the Robin Hood law argue that it is designed to ensure a quality education for all Texas students by supporting districts with financial challenges.
