Federal prosecutors say an Arlington resident is facing several charges stemming from his actions on January 6th, 2021 at the U.S. Capitol Jason Farris, age 44, was arrested in Texas on Wednesday.
Prosecutors say Farris was part of the group trying to get in to the Capitol while members of Congress were trying to certify the results of the 2020 President election. A group at the Lower West Plaza of the Capitol confronted police officers, who were using bicycle racks as a shield.
Prosecutors say Farris shoved an officer who was holding a bike rack while several other people dragged it away from him.
Farris is charged with assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers; obstructing, impeding, or interfering with officers during a civil disorder; entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds; disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds; and physical violence in a restricted building or grounds.
The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and the Department of Justice National Security Division’s Counterterrorism Section.
