"Having a warrant can be stressful and create barriers. This is a great opportunity to come in without fear of arrest to find out what options are available," Court Administrator Jake Medrano said.

People who come in to work out a payment plan or other resolution for their warrant will not be arrested for any city of Arlington warrants under the court's "Safe Harbor" policy. The court has also set up other options for people to make payments, including by phone or through the court's web site.

"We definitely think it's a better approach to get defendants to come in without having an officer go down to their work or place of business, because there are options available," Medrano said. "Our goal is to really work with people."

The Citation and Warrant Resolution Drive started Tuesday and will run through March 14. During that period, the Arlington Municipal Court will waive any collection agency fees on warrants that are paid in full.
