The City of Arlington is finalizing plans for a parade and party in the Entertainment District Friday to celebrate the Texas Rangers' World Series title. The Rangers beat Arizona 5-0 Wednesday to win the series four games to one.

"I've never seen Texas Live! on fire like it was last night," says Arlington Mayor Jim Ross. "What an incredible experience! People were cheering; people were crying; people were hugging each other; strangers were coming up and hugging me saying, 'I can't believe we've done this!'"

Street closures will begin at 10 a.m. Friday:

Cowboys Way between AT&T Way and Stadium Drive- AT&T Way between Cowboys Way and Nolan Ryan Expressway- Nolan Ryan Expressway between AT&T Way and E Road to Six Flags Drive- E Road to Six Flags Drive between Nolan Ryan Expressway and Ballpark Way- Ballpark Way between E Road to Six Flags Drive and Cowboys Way- Randol Mill Road will also be closed between AT&T Way and Ballpark Way

The parade will begin Friday at 12:15 p.m. on Cowboys Way at Supra Lot A south of Globe Life Field. The parade will loop around Globe Life Field traveling north on AT&T Way, east on Nolan Ryan Expressway, south on Ballpark Way and ending at Supra Lot A.

After the parade, a celebration will start in the Globe Life Field North Plaza and Tundra Lot B outside Texas Live!

"This is what we were born to do," Ross says. "We've handled everything from Taylor Swift concerts to Super Bowls to WWE WrestleMania."

The Washington Senators moved to Arlington in 1972 when the area around I-30 and Turnpike Stadium was surrounded by open land. This is the franchise's first championship.

"Mayor Tom Vandergriff went to D.C. 51 years ago, convinced the Senators to become the Texas Rangers and move to Arlington," Ross says. "The city has helped them build three stadiums. The Rangers have been loyal to us. We've been loyal to them. This has been a wonderful, wonderful partnership."

Ross says Arlington and the Rangers have been working together to plan the parade and celebration.

"The Rangers will be up here on these balconies at Globe Life Field addressing the masses and talking about their victories, just having a great time," he says. "We anticipate a wonderful, wonderful crowd but a huge crowd so get here early."

Free parking surrounding Globe Life Field, AT&T Stadium, Choctaw Stadium, and the Esports Stadium Arlington + Expo Center will open at 8 a.m. Friday. The City of Arlington says the Live! by Loews parking garage, Cowboys parking Lots 3, 4, and 5 and Rangers’ parking lots A, B, K, R, and T will be closed before and during the festivities because they are inside the parade route.

The city says handicapped parking spaces will be available first-come-first-served in Texas Rangers parking lots on the north, east, and southeast sides of the parade route.
