Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas was placed on lockdown on Thursday afternoon with police on the hunt for an armed suspect.
According to police, Henderson County Sheriff's Office deputies attempted to retrieve a stolen vehicle on West College Street at which point the suspect ran from the officers.
Police say this manhunt morphed into a rumor that there was an active shooter situation - which according to police chief John Densmore, is not the case.
"This is an armed suspect incident that is ongoing but not an active shooter situation," Densmore said.
No further information has yet been provided by police regarding the suspect.
