Staffers at the Bedford Animal Shelter are hoping to reopen today but it's not certain.

The shelter on Reliance Parkway has been closed since Monday when dozens of cats were rescued from a home where a couple was being evicted.

Bedford Animal Control officers were called to take care of more than 60 cats and one dog. All of the animals were removed and brought to the shelter to be evaluated. Donations of food and other pet items are needed.

Everyone was very busy, so they decided to close down normal operations. The plan is to reopen today but that may change so call ahead if you need assistance.
