AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas Athletics and the Business of Sports Institute (BOSI) at the McCombs School of Business, in partnership with Longhorn Sports Properties, have officially launched Bevo Lab—a first-of-its-kind sports intelligence platform and living laboratory designed to revolutionize collegiate sports through artificial intelligence and data analytics.

Joined by founding tech partners Dell Technologies, Google Cloud, and SHI International, Bevo Lab will serve as higher education’s premier sports intelligence platform. The initiative spans all 21 intercollegiate UT teams and over 500 student-athletes, using data-driven insights to elevate human performance while training the next generation of sports analytics leaders.

Key Features of Bevo Lab:

  • Bevo Lakehouse: A unified data warehouse that centralizes previously siloed sports data—such as game film and wearable tech—starting with football before expanding to all varsity sports.
  • Predictive AI & Analytics: Custom machine learning frameworks, including roster evaluation models ("transfer AI"), built to provide coaches with actionable strategies, scouting reports, and player development insights.
  • Google Cloud & Gemini Integration: Advanced multimodal AI workflows that have already demonstrated the ability to save UT coaches over 15 hours per week in game preparation.
  • Hands-On Student Workforce Training: Up to 40 student researchers in year one—scaling to 200 annually—will manage modeling projects under the direction of BOSI Executive Director Dr. Kirk Goldsberry. A Google Public Sector ambassador program will also allow students to work directly alongside engineering teams.

Industry Leaders Powering the Vision:

  • Dell Technologies acts as the premier founding sponsor and Official Technology Infrastructure Sponsor, delivering the secure, AI-ready infrastructure that powers the lab's data processing.
  • Google Cloud serves as the Official Cloud Provider and Enterprise AI Provider, utilizing its Gemini models to build a unified data foundation.
  • SHI International functions as the strategic technology advisor and solutions integrator, combining partner infrastructure, cloud, AI, and security technologies into one unified environment.
"With the help of our nationally ranked academic leaders and cutting-edge technology brand sponsors, Bevo Lab will become the global benchmark for innovation in sports AI and data analytics, making Texas Athletics the most data-driven athletic program in the country," said Chris Del Conte, Vice President and Folger Family Athletics Director at The University of Texas.

Housed in the Innovation Tower in the heart of Austin’s Innovation District, Bevo Lab aims to set the standard for how collegiate athletic programs approach performance, strategy, and student career development.
