The college football team coached by Dallas Cowboys Hall of Famer Deion Sanders will be rejoining the Big 12.

Wednesday night, the Big 12 schools' presidents and chancellors voted unanimously to accept Colorado as a new member, allowing the Buffs to leave the Pac-12 and rejoin the Irving-based Big 12.

Colorado was a charter member of the Big 12 which formed in 1996, combining the members of the former Big 8 with the four Texas schools that had been part of the old Southwest Conference.

ESPN was the first to report the decision last night, quoting anonymous sources because the Big 12 is trying to keep this quiet since Colorado still has to go through the formal process of applying for membership.

Colorado's Board of Regents has a special meeting scheduled for Thursday.

The Big 12 has been working to shore up its membership with the pending departure of Texas and Oklahoma for the Southeast Conference (SEC) following the 2023 season.

This morning, Sanders retweeted a post from "Barstool Colorado" saying " Colorado is officially leaving the Pac-12 and returning to the Big 12 in 2024...CU will receive a full $31.7 Million media share."
